Frequently Asked Questions
Timeframes and process
How long does a translation take?
The standard turnaround is 1–3 business days depending on volume. Express translations are completed within 24 hours — please specify when ordering.
Do I need to visit the office in person?
For certified translations, you need to bring the original document in person. The finished translation is also collected at the office. Our offices are located in the centre of Prague, Brno, and Pardubice.
Do you accept scanned documents?
For a preliminary cost estimate — yes. For an official certified translation, the original or a notarized copy is required.
What is an official (court-certified) translation?
A translation certified by a sworn translator’s signature and round stamp. It is required by government authorities, notaries, courts, and educational institutions.
What languages do you translate?
Czech, Ukrainian, Russian, English, Polish, Romanian, Georgian, Turkish, French, Italian, Spanish, and other languages.
Do Czech authorities accept documents in English without translation?
No. Czech government offices, courts, and institutions require all foreign documents to be officially translated into Czech by a sworn translator. Even documents in English must be translated and stamped.
What is the difference between a regular and a certified translation?
A regular translation has no legal standing. A certified (úřední) translation is performed by a court-appointed sworn translator, bears a round stamp and certification clause, and is legally binding for all Czech authorities and institutions.
I'm relocating to the Czech Republic — what documents will I need translated?
Typically: passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, criminal record check, diplomas, and employment documents. The exact list depends on your visa type. Send us your documents and we will advise which ones require certified translation.
Is the translation valid abroad?
An official translation made in the Czech Republic is valid within the Czech Republic. For use abroad, an apostille on the translation itself or legalization according to the requirements of the destination country is usually needed. Learn more about apostille and legalization.
What if I find a mistake in the finished translation?
If the mistake was made on our end, we will correct it free of charge. Please contact us as soon as possible after receiving the translation.
Do you translate handwritten documents?
Yes, we regularly translate handwritten documents. If the handwriting is difficult to read, this may extend the turnaround time — we will let you know in advance.
