Certified, or standard — which do you need?
The price for a standard page (1,800 characters including spaces) is 900 CZK for Spanish. The difference is whether your document needs the round stamp of a Czech sworn translator.
Certified (sworn) translation
- Round stamp of a Czech sworn translator registered with the Ministry of Justice
- Accepted by Czech authorities, the registry office, courts and notaries
- Typically: birth or marriage certificates, diplomas, corporate documents, powers of attorney
Standard translation
- No sworn certification or stamp
- For internal business use, correspondence, marketing material
- Suitable when the document isn't being submitted to any authority
A Spanish notario's certification isn't the same as a Czech certified translation
If your document was already certified or notarised in Spain, that's a different thing from what Czech institutions require. For use here in Czechia, you'll need a translation from a Czech sworn translator — the round stamp and clause is what the registry office, courts and notaries actually check for, regardless of any Spanish certification already on the document.
Which documents do we translate most often?
Most requests we see are Spanish documents coming into Czechia — for international families, Spanish companies setting up here, and professionals with Spanish qualifications
Family and residence documents
Birth certificate
For the Czech registry office, family reunification, or registering a child born in Spain.
Marriage certificate
For recognising a marriage in Czechia or residence permit applications.
Spanish criminal record extract
Commonly required for work and residence permit applications in Czechia.
We often see international families — one partner Spanish, living here in Czechia — who need a Spanish birth or marriage certificate translated for the registry office. It's usually a straightforward certified translation, but we always check exactly what the specific office needs before we start.

Spanish companies setting up a subsidiary or joint venture in Czechia typically need their founding documents translated and certified for the Czech commercial register.
Registro Mercantil extract
Proof of a Spanish company's registration, needed to set up a Czech branch or s.r.o.
Contracts and founding documents
For joint ventures, subsidiaries, or agreements with Czech partners.
Education
If you have a Spanish diploma and need it recognised for work or study in Czechia, a Czech public university offering a similar programme usually decides — since both countries are Hague Convention members, only an apostille is needed, not full superlegalisation. Details in our article Nostrifikace of a Spanish Diploma in the Czech Republic.
Diploma and transcript
For nostrification, employee card applications, or a Czech employer.
A growing number of our clients are Spanish companies opening a branch or subsidiary here — they need their Registro Mercantil extract and founding documents translated and certified for the Czech commercial register. We're used to working with the international management teams that run these projects, usually in English.

The direction we handle most
Spanish documents that need to work with a Czech authority, notary, employer, or the commercial register — the most common request we get for this language pair.
For use in Spain
Less common for this audience, but we handle it too. Some Spanish institutions require a translator sworn locally (traductor jurado) — there are only around seven registered for Czech-Spanish in all of Spain. We'll advise based on where the document is going.

What do people ask most about Spanish documents?
Is a Czech certified translation of my Spanish document valid for Czech authorities?
Yes. A certified translation carries the round stamp and clause of a Czech sworn translator appointed by a Czech court, and is accepted by Czech authorities, the registry office, courts, and notaries. This is the standard route for a Spanish document you need to use here in the Czech Republic.
My document was already certified by a notario in Spain — is that enough?
Not on its own. A Spanish notario’s certification confirms something different from what Czech authorities require. For use in the Czech Republic, you’ll still need a certified translation from a Czech sworn translator, regardless of any notarisation already done in Spain.
What if I need my document recognised in Spain instead?
Some Spanish institutions require a translation from a traductor/intérprete jurado registered with the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAEC) rather than a translation certified abroad. For the Czech-Spanish combination specifically, there are only around seven such registered translators in all of Spain, mostly based in Madrid. If your document is heading to Spain rather than staying in Czechia, we recommend checking with the receiving institution first.
